COMMUNITY CAMPAIGN FOR CANCER CONTROL PROJECT(LAPOC4)
The LAPO C4 campaign Project is aimed at reducing cancer related deaths by focusing attention on activities to promote regular uptake of screening services for early detection. The project objectives will be achieved through massive education of the populace on the pre-disposing factors, signs and symptoms to look out for, social mobilization and provision of screening services. JAKIN N.G.O is implementing the project in slums within Mainland and Ajeromi LGAs. The goal of the project is to reduce rate of cancer related deaths among most vulnerable population in Nigeria. The focus of the project is on breast, cervical, prostate cancer along with childhood tumours. JAKIN N.G.O commenced implementation of the 1 year project in December 2016.
At the end of the first year of the project, JAKIN N.G.O reached 85,409 (M 34347, F 51062) individual with awareness creation on breast, cervical, prostate, Liver and childhood cancers. 1501 were referred for (39) Prostate cancer screening, (861) breast cancer screening and (601) cervical cancer screening respectively. 1501 referred, 1091 were screened for breast cancer (631), 460 were screened for cervical cancer while 61 were referred for breast and cervical cancer treatment.
