MTV SHUGA is a television soap opera that that seeks to educate the populace on hiv/aids. It is a multimedia campaign to spread the message about responsible sexual behavior and tolerance. It seeks to educate youths on HIV, safe sex and teen pregnancy. It also touches on maternal and child health, family planning, gender-based violence, and women empowerment. It is produced in partnership with nigeria’s “national agency for the control of aids” (NACA), bill and melinda gates foundation, the us president’s emergency plan for aids relief.
