TB LON 3 PROJECT
Since August 2021, JAKIN N.G.O has been the implementing entity for the USAID funded IHVN/SFH Tuberculosis Local Organization Network (TB LON 3) Project across 10 LGAs (Surulere, Oshodi, Alimosho, Ikorodu, Somolu, Eti-Osa, Mainland, Ajeromi, Ikeja and Kosofe LGAs) in Lagos State.
From January to December 2023, 181 JAKIN N.G.O Adhoc Staff -146 Community Volunteers (CVs) and 35 LGA Supervisors served on the project.
211,990 community members were screened during house-to-house community active TB case finding and community medical outreaches, 15,146 presumptive cases were identified and provided with free lab TB tests, 780 positive cases were detected, and 694 positive cases were placed on free TB treatment in health facilities across the 10 designated LGAs.
152 integrated medical outreaches were conducted in communities providing free Blood pressure check, weight check, HIV counseling & Testing (HCT), Covid vaccination, eye tests along with Tuberculosis awareness creation, screening, presumptive sputum samples collection, free TB testing services, free mobile/lab x-ray services and free over the counter drug dispensing to vulnerable community members.
Some of the highpoint of the year was the US Consulate General’s (Mr Wills Stevens) visit to JAKIN N.G.O Integrated Medical Outreach site in Alimosho LGA in March and USAID Mission Director’s (Mrs Melissa Jones) visits to JAKIN N.G.O Community Integrated Medical Outreach Sites in Eti Osa and Alimosho LGAs in December 2023.
